John Fenwick is the Founder and President of Preferred Partners, one of the biggest OSJs with Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. He is a Registered Principal and holds the CLU, ChFC, and BCEP designations.
John began his career as a national brokerage director at Aetna, where he observed countless agents missing out on crucial growth opportunities by operating in isolation. John believed independent advisors could thrive in an environment of mutually beneficial collaboration. He put his vision to the test in 1998, creating his own branch. Preferred Partners became his then-broker dealer’s largest branch just 6 short months later.
John credits the success of Preferred Partners to his rock star staff who know the industry better than anyone. Surrounding himself with the best in the business is what allows John to operate at a higher level, a philosophy that drives the Preferred Partners family of advisors as well.
John was born in Fort Collins, CO and raised in Denver. He attended Colorado State University where he earned an engineering degree with a minor in economics. After graduation, John proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 9 years. He is a former President and Chair of the International Association for Financial Planning.
